Marta Sudraba

Marta Sudraba, born in Riga, Latvia, studied with Ilze Rugevica and Eleonora Testeleca in Riga, and at the Guildhall Scholl of Music and Drama in London, in Basel Music Academy with Thomas Demenga, and with Heinrich Schiff at the Vienna Music Academy.
Since the founding of Kremerata Baltica in 1997, Marta Sudraba has been the cello group’s concertmaster, and she has participated in all Kremerata Baltica`s tours and recordings, including the Grammy-nominated cd’s Tracing Astor and George Enescu, and the cd After Mozart, which earned a Grammy.
Marta Sudraba has performed with orchestras such as Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orchestra de La Scala of Milan and The Russian National Orchestra She has worked with conductors such as Yuri Termikanov, Eri Klass, Kent Nagano, Christof Eschenbach and Mario Venzago, and as a chamber musician, she has performed with a.m.o. Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Thomas Quasthoff, Nikolaj Znaider, Ilya Gringolts, Per Arne Glorvigen, Gidon Kremer, Joshua Bell and Vadim Sakharov. She appeared at famous festivals like Aspen, Verbier, Schleswig-Holstein, and Lockenhaus.
In 2006 she released a solo album Exanimo.
