Danish National Chamber Orchestra
Orchestra
The Danish National Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1939, originally as a “pops” ensemble, a mission that the ensemble embraced as it continued to play an important role in the renewal of the popular music genres on the domestic Danish scene.
Today a stylistic versatility is one of the orchestra’s hallmarks which has won for it a large and loyal audience. Over the past 15 years, the orchestra’s 42 musicians and their director Adam Fischer established themselves as one of the leading modern interpreters of Viennese Classicism, a reputation well-documented in an ICMA (International Classical Music Award 2015) award-winning box set of the complete Mozart symphonies.
The DNCO’s wide-ranging and creative repertoire — from Vivaldi to the 20th-century — has often been augmented by consistently innovative and engaging approaches to presentation which has included staging and lighting design.
