Anders Monrad

Since 2006 he has studied composition at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under Bent Sørensen, Hans Abrahamsen, Niels Rosing-Schow and Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjærg. As a composer Monrad gets his inspiration from different musical genres and conventions, and he is an avid collector
of obscure old LP`s - with tastes ranging from early electronic music, and psychedelic rock to various kitsch genres. He is very inspired by the American composer John Zorn, whose poly-stylistic approach and rejection of the dichotomy between “High Brow” and “Low Brow” culture stands, Monrad sees as one of the most important developments in late 20th century musical aesthetics. In addition to composition, Monrad is active as a painter, music critic and writer.
